Satellite Internet Access – No DSL Or Cable – No Problem

If you were to look at the various kinds of broadband internet access available, it’s apparent that satellite internet access is becoming increasingly popular. And for good reason.

If you live outside of the coverage area of cable or a DSL service, satellite internet may be the only way for you to get access to a high speed internet service. Internet via also allows travelers to have internet access while they are on the move without the limitations that come with a mobile stick.

Once you’ve decided to go with internet through satellite, you have a few decisions to make. When you’re trying to decide on what type of satellite plan to choose, you need to consider cost and how much bandwidth you will use. Unlike other types of broadband internet, satellite internet caps the amount of bandwidth that can be used over a certain period of time.

Downloading large files like videos may not be possible without exceeding the cap. So you may need to buy a plan with a larger cap if you download a lot of large files. When you do go over your limit, your internet access speed is lowered for a period of time, so your browsing speed is equivalent to what you’d get with dial up.

Home internet plans may be bundled as part of a package that would include satellite TV and radio. Business users may need more bandwidth than home users, rather than a bundled package of services. Because of that there are satellite internet access packages that are designed specifically for business use, with a larger bandwidth allowance that can be scaled up as needed.

Another important consideration especially for business owners is upload speed. This is one area where this type of internet does not compare well to other types of high speed internet. So if you need to upload large amounts of data to a website on a frequent basis, be aware of the limitations of internet via satellite.

Satellite internet is indispensable for people who need access to mobile internet. If you have a motor home, boat or simply are on the road a lot, you may want to take a look at a mobile internet plan. Internet access is enabled with a briefcase size, portable device. The one drawback is that this type of broadband internet is expensive.

There are a lot of reasons to choose satellite internet access, if you don’t have access to DSL or cable. And if you need to stay connected while you’re on the road, this type of internet is your only choice!
